USW Local 8-957 Seeks Support from Congress to Save Jobs in Morgantown

Members of the Local 8-957 bargaining committee met virtually with members of Congress this week to urge them to lend their support to our union’s effort to save the Morgantown facility.

Over two days, we met with more than a dozen legislators and their congressional staff in both the House and Senate to highlight the importance of keeping one of the country’s last remaining manufacturing sites of generic pharmaceuticals operating on American soil.

We stressed that Viatris’ plan to shutter this facility is a matter of national security that imperils our nation’s medical supply chain and that doing so would rip the heart out of our community.

Many of the congresspeople and their staff expressed concern over our situation. We will keep you posted as we remain in contact with our elected officials.

THE FIGHT ISN’T OVER

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again—the fight for our jobs doesn’t stop at the bargaining table, and we were proud to use this opportunity speak up on behalf of our jobs.

As we prepare to enter effects bargaining, know that we will do our best to ensure fair treatment for everyone throughout this difficult process.

Our campaign can only be successful if we are united, and that’s why it’s so important for us all to stay informed and up to date as this process continues.
