Local 8-957 meets with legislative allies

This past Monday, a group of Local 8-957 members visited with Sen. Mike Caputo in Charleston, W. Va., to speak with him and other legislators about our fight. Caputo reiterated his support for our local and our work.

The senator also highlighted our struggle during remarks in the Senate Chamber and co-sponsored Senate Resolution 22 with Sen. Bob Beach, urging the Governor of West Virginia to form a task force with congressional representatives, labor organizations, and other industry leaders to call upon President Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act and order our Morgantown facility be retrofitted to produce critical, life-saving medical supplies.

As we’ve said before—this fight isn’t over, and no options are off the table when it comes to saving our community.

We look forward to continue reaching across the aisle and partnering with our allies in the days and weeks ahead.

We also met with the company this week to deliver our effects bargaining proposal. This process will take time, and we will keep you updated on any other developments as we wait for a response.
