April 9, 2021 Membership Update

This past week, Local 8-957 continued our campaign to bring awareness to our facility and community. A towering digital billboard at University Town Centre now displays three alternating messages about our fight and about the importance of keeping our jobs here in Morgantown.

Our goal is to share our story in any way we can, and this display is just another step along this journey we’re taking together.

West Virginia resolution passed

We are also excited to announce that the West Virginia House of Delegates today passed House Resolution 24, urging on Gov. Jim Justice to form a task force with congressional representatives, labor organizations, and other industry leaders to call on the president to invoke the Defense Production Act and save jobs at the plant.

The resolution was originally introduced in the state senate by Sens. Mike Caputo and Robert Beach as Resolution 22 on March 19. The USW Rapid Response Department then launched an Action Call, asking members across West Virginia to contact their representatives and urge them to support the resolution.

As we push forward, we will continue to keep you posted on any updates or actions. Please stay in touch by texting USW8957 to 77820.
